The Eight Companies…

The groups are hard at work, energy drinks are being consumed and after pitching to Jeff Pulver live, some have more work to do than others. (On a sadder note, while waiting to pitch to Pulver, some folks missed lunch!) Micah posted a great roundup of the eight companies and what they are doing on the Startup Weekend blog. Read about what the different groups are up to here….

Mediacasters.TV Launches by Covering Startup Weekend Boulder 2

March 21-23 anybody in the world can participate in the live Startup Weekend (www.StartupWeekend.com) experience through www.Mediacasters.tv’s innovative live two-way programming.

Plenty of folks liveblog, twitter, and live-stream events. We expect it. But it’s pretty much a one-way experience with only small bits of information coming back into the event itself. What people following the streams could more profoundly participate in the event as it happened?

Enter mediacasting, a two-way experience conceived by Laura “Pistachio” Fitton and enabled by emerging social media tools.

She remarks, “Mediacasting mashes up ‘lifecasting’ with live events. That’s plenty fun, but the exciting part that the remote audience can talk back. Live events stimulate conversations, but those offsite can’t really respond until later, when “the moment” has passed. What if you could engage from anywhere right as something interesting happened? In real time? Using super flexible, lightweight “social media” tools that make anyone a mediacaster.”

Her programming model uses relatively commonplace tools: smartphones, laptops and digital cameras running free social media applications: Twitter, Qik, Seesmic, Utterz, BlogTV, Flickr, Yahoo Live and Wordpress. Throughout the weekend both scheduled and ad-hoc content will go out at www.Twitter.com/mediacasters and www.mediacasters.tv. Through webcams, live chat, comments and replies, remote participants will engage in brainstorming, feedback and even providing special expertise. This remote participation will inform and affect the event itself.

Anchoring the mediacast are five special live episodes of Pulver.TV with special guests Guy Kawasaki (www.Garage.com), Loic Lemeur (www.Seesmic.com), Stowe Boyd (www.StoweBoyd.com), Eric Litman (www.WashingtonVC.com) and many others. Live and recorded video sessions throughout the event will air LIVE on www.Pulver.tv at 9pm EDT Friday and 2pm & 6pm Saturday and Sunday. The mediacast of Startup Weekend Boulder II is sponsored by Jeff Pulver (who recently also launched www.PrimeTimeRewind.tv). For more information - and to participate in the medicast - go to www.mediacasters.tv or follow Twitter.com/mediacasters.
