Why Startup Weekend?
Startup Weekend (www.StartupWeekend.com) is a high-energy experience that poses a great mix of live and recorded programming opportunities.
Founded in Boulder, CO in July 2007, hundreds of remote viewers logged onto a static UStream.tv feed of the first Startup Weekend to observe the rapid-fire emergence of sms-polling application VoSnap (www.vosnap.com). The blog, Twitter updates and other information trickling from the event were avidly consumed.
This breakout event model spread quickly with fourteen subsequent Startup Weekends around the world. Founder Andrew Hyde (recently in headlines and part of the SXSWi buzz for his spoof t-shirt company www.VCWear.com) was inspired by the www.Techstars.org program to create this dynamic
